“Hello, I'm Jon. I founded Palm Deaf in February 2016 and I have been teaching for the past 28 years. As a company, we have enjoyed teaching BSL to thousands of students over the past decade. I teach BSL Levels 1 through to 6, deliver Deaf Awareness training to businesses across the country and work as a BSL senior assessor. I enjoy playing badminton and padel weekly and am a passionate golfer. I also love walking my dog along the beautiful coast."

“My name is Jason Redwood. I joined Palm Deaf BSL Training in November 2016. I teach all levels of BSL from Level 1 to Level 4 and also train teachers and deliver workshops. As the BSL Co-ordinator, I help facilitate and support new teachers as well as being responsible for our online classrooms, including creating the learning resources used across all our courses. I love reading and going for long walks in nature. I also have a passion for art and history, and I’m always learning something new every other day!”

“Hello, My name is Carly. I am proudly Deaf and a BSL and SSE user. I started working with Palm Deaf in 2025. I teach BSL Level 1, delivering 1-to-1 lessons remotely. I have a mini lop rabbit named Ruben. He lives in the house and loves getting attention. My favourite moments are going on holiday with family and friends every year. We make lovely memories and enjoy spending time together. I like staying active by walking, going to the gym, and joining workout classes.”

“My name is Charlie Hembrow. I joined Palm Deaf in 2020 and teach BSL Levels 1 and 2. I’ve recently started teaching Level 3 in 1-to-1 sessions. I really enjoy teaching because I love sharing my BSL knowledge and helping people build their skills and reach their goals. I’m a very active person — I’m usually up around 4:30 a.m. and ready to hit the gym. In my spare time, I love walking and drawing.”

“Hiya, my name is Heidi, I am Deaf myself and have taken BSL levels 3 and 6, so I know how it feels to be a student. I also teach an Education Awards level 3 as well as a BSL linguistics course. When I am not working at Palm Deaf, I am a support worker for Deaf people with learning difficulties. I love to go to classes at the gym and attend 2-3 times a week. I am an Aston Villa FC supporter. I love to spend time with my Grandson, family and friends.”

“Hi, I'm Stefano Stavrou. I joined Palm Deaf in 2023 and teach levels 1- 4. I enjoy teaching because it allows me to see students grow in confidence as they develop their signing skills. Watching someone go from learning their first few signs to having a full conversation in BSL is incredibly rewarding. My favourite place to go is anywhere with sunshine, good coffee, and no alarm clocks. That is my kind of holiday!”

“Hello, my name is Adam Foot. I joined Palm Deaf in 2024. I teach BSL levels 1 and 2 and thoroughly enjoy working with my students. When I am not teaching, my favourite hobby is to play golf. One of my favourite family holiday destinations is Orlando because Universal Studios is the best!”
